Alex has advanced training and expertise in airway management. He co-authored one of the largest recent studies of airway complications in the UK, published in the world-renowned Anaesthesia journal. He is well-placed to review and comment on airway management.
After becoming a consultant, Alex completed the European Diploma in Regional Anaesthesia. This prestigious qualification requires rigorous knowledge and practice of all areas of regional anaesthesia (spinal anaesthesia, epidural anaesthesia and nerve blocks). He performs a high volume of nerve blocks in his orthopaedic practice.
Alex works in a busy district general hospital, a position which exposes him to all areas of anaesthesia with the exception of cardiac anaesthesia and neuroanaesthesia. He uses this experience and his knowledge of relevant guidelines to judge and comment on standards of care in an independent, impartial manner.
